About the practice

A senior, judgement-led advisory practice

Erebus Consulting Ltd provides independent technical and strategic support for complex renewable energy systems. We combine senior in-house judgement with a network of experienced independent practitioners, giving clients depth without the overhead of a large consultancy.

Why the name

Erebus is the space before order exists

We use it as a metaphor for the stage of complex energy projects where decisions must be made before certainty is available. That is where the practice operates, and where independent judgement earns its keep.

Independent by structure

Erebus has no contracting arm, no equipment supply relationship and no delivery interest. Our recommendations carry no stake in the outcome beyond being right. That independence is what makes the advice usable in front of funders, regulators and courts.

Senior people on the work

Engagements are led and delivered by people with the experience to make the judgement call. Clients are not paying for a layer of junior resource learning on their project.

Scoped to the decision

We do not issue standard service quotes for predefined scopes. Work is defined around the decision the client actually faces, and can scale or stop as the project requires.

Evidence that holds

Findings are separated from assumptions and interpretation, explicitly and consistently. Where something is an assumption, it is labelled as one. This is what allows conclusions to survive challenge.

How we are structured

One point of technical responsibility. A wider bench behind it

The team

A core practice and a network of associates

Erebus is led by David Linsley-Hood, a Chartered Energy Engineer and Chartered Environmentalist with over twenty years' experience across contractor delivery, developer advisory, consultancy leadership and board-level governance in the UK renewable energy sector.

Core practice

Technical direction and decision coordination

The core practice holds technical direction, decision framing and client relationship on every engagement. It carries prior experience of leading and scaling multidisciplinary engineering teams delivering solar, storage, wind, hydrogen and grid-constrained infrastructure, from early feasibility through construction, operation and asset life decisions.

Statutory appointments including Owner's Engineer and Principal Designer are held directly, not delegated.

Associate network

Specialist depth, brought in where it is needed

For engagements requiring sustained site presence or discipline-specific expertise, Erebus works with a select network of experienced independent practitioners. That network spans construction management and site supervision on utility-scale BESS, wind and solar PV, commissioning and systems integration, and ecological and environmental compliance.

Clients receive a single point of technical oversight through Erebus. Specialists contract directly with the client where that arrangement serves them better.
